Seit Anbeginn der Zeit existieren die Minions als kleine gelbe Einzeller. Im Laufe der Evolution suchten sie sich immer wieder die übelsten Bösewichter als Herren — vom Tyrannosaurus Rex bis zu Napoleon. Doch irgendwann ging die Herrschaft eines jeden Superschurken zu Ende. Ohne einen Meister, dem sie dienen konnten, verfielen die kleinen Latzhosenträger in eine tiefe Depression. Aber dann hat ein Minion namens Kevin einen Plan! Gemeinsam mit dem rebellischen Stuart und dem liebenswerten Bob macht er sich auf in die weite Welt, um einen neuen Anführer für sich und seine Mitstreiter zu finden. Die drei begeben sich auf eine aufregende Reise, die sie schließlich zu ihrem nächsten potenziellen Meister führt: Scarlet Overkill, die als erste weibliche Superschurkin die Weltherrschaft an sich reißen will. Von der kalten Antarktis über das New York der 60er Jahre führt der Weg von Kevin, Stuart und Bob bis ins hippe London. Dort müssen sie ihre bisher größte Herausforderung meistern… die Rettung aller Minions!
